The Vision Council has shared this update on the ongoing trade dispute between the US and China implemented by the Trump Administration.

The United States Trade Representative (USTR) has published a third list of tariff numbers that might be subjected to an additional 10% customs duty on Chinese origin merchandise. As with the first two lists (list 1 went live on July 6th; implementation of list 2 is still pending) eyeglasses, optical frames, lenses, plano sunglasses, reading glasses, safety eyewear, telescopes and parts of these medical devices remain off the list.

However, certain products imported by The Vision Council’s members are on the third list. Specifically, the list includes the tariff number under which hand-held and stand magnifiers are classified. In addition, there are tariff numbers covering eyeglass cases, some paper products that might include paper displays, and eyeglass cleaning solutions.
