Amblyopia
Amblyopia is a common eye disease in children. The prevalence of amblyopia in preschool and school-age children is about 1.3% ~ 3%. It is usually unilateral or bilateral. It is an eye disease related to visual development. It only occurs in early childhood when vision is not yet mature. Children over 8 years old have nearly mature visual development and will not have amblyopia. Therefore, understanding the process of visual development is of great significance for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of amblyopia.
Children's visual development
Children's vision is gradually developed and mature. The key period of children's visual development is 0 ~ 3 years old, the sensitive period is 0 ~ 12 years old, and the binocular visual development is mature at the age of 6 ~ 8 years old. Visual acuity varies at different stages of development. From the signs of visual development at different stages, we can see that age factors should be paid attention to in the diagnosis of amblyopia.
Age | Vision |
2 ~ 3 months | 0.01~0.02 |
6 months | 0.06~0.1 |
1 year old | 0.15~0.2 |
2 years old | 0.3~0.4 |
3 years old | 0.5~0.7 |
4 ~ 5 years old | 0.8~1.0 |
For the convenience of memory, the formula can be simply used for memory.
Children's roughly normal visual acuity = 0.2 × Age
