The McElroy Award is named after Neil McElroy, legendary President of P&G and considered by many to be the father of modern brand management.  The award panel described Dean as a visionary leader and recognized the pioneering changes he brought to the US retail eyewear market.  The panel said that he took “…an industry mired in dusty backrooms to glossy, upmarket locations front and center in malls and high streets across America”.
