Accommodation Insufficiency
Diagnosis Of Anomalies Of Accommodation Function - Accommodation Insufficiency
With the increase of age, the amplitude of accommodation of human eyes will decline, so that the use of accommodation can not meet the needs of clear, comfortable and lasting sight and reading. Accommodation abnormality of presbyopia is a normal physiological process, not a pathological reaction. Anomality of accommodation function of non presbyopia mainly refers to people who do not reach presbyopia in age,but have accommodation anomality.
Classification of Abnormal Accommodation Function
Accommodation Insufficiency
Poor Maintenance Of Accommodation
Accommodation Malfunction
Excessive Accommodation
Accommodation Insufficiency
It is a common binocular visual abnormality in clinic, which is mainly manifested in that the amplitude of accommodation is lower than the normal value of the minimum amplitude of accommodation of the same age (Hofstetter formula minimum amplitude of accommodation = 15-0.25) × Age).If the measured value of amplitude of accommodation is 2D or more lower than the normal accommodation, accommodation insufficiency shall be considered.
Symptom
1. Visual fatigue after long-time close reading and work.
2. The far vision and near vision decreased, the eye muscles were tense, and the reading font had a sense of movement.
3. Can't look at things close for a long time. Hope to avoid working close as much as possible.
4. Severe patients are accompanied by headache, nausea, fatigue, conjunctival congestion, photophobia and tears.
Examination Of Visual Function
Amplitude of accommodation (Amp) decrease
Positive relative accommodation (PRA) below normal
Accommodation reaction (AR) lags significantly
Accommodation facility (AF),extend the time of using flipper with concave(-) lens
Exophoria may occur in the near eye position: due to accommodation insufficiency, the accommodative convergence is decreased, and patients often have exophoria.
Esophoria may occur in the near eye position: due to accommodation insufficiency, patients need to use more accommodation to stimuli and compensate for the accommodation insufficiency, resulting in the increase of accommodative convergence, which may cause esophoria.
